Advanced Bicyle Handling Workshops

Advanced Bicyle Handling Workshops

Kick start your skills, with training from the Think Bikes professionals.

If you've seen one of our demos, videos or photos of us riding, many of you will be inspired to try this for yourself. Think Bikes is pleased to offer advanced training as a kick start into the sport, or even just few hours of fun with your friends. With our expert guidance, you can progress much faster and safer than going it alone. The foundation skills are within the grasps of anyone, using any bike.

If you are interested in starting any bicycle discipline, be it trials, BMX, cross country, down hill or you just want to feel happier riding your bike on the road, then our training sessions are the well informed choice.

Learnings tricks and stunts, or as we call it "advanced handling", improves your safety. Bicycle safety doesn't just come from minimising risky situations, it also comes from increasing your ability to cope with complex or unforseen circumstances.

The more in control of the bike you are, the less likely you are to have an accident and the more confident you will feel. With a little practice you can improve your balance considerably, and start hopping up curbs without fear of puncturing, buckling wheels, or even having to stop and pick up the bike. For those with a good foundation already, we'll push you to the next level!

Learning to do tricks and stunts on any bike can be very dangerous. If you or your children are considering starting a cycling sport - being equipped with the knowledge you need to do it safely is a must if you want an injury free cycling experience. Our sessions are run by professional riders with full CRB checks - so you know you are in safe hands.

Our training events can be booked at the location of your choice - we come to you. Each member of the party must have their own working bike, of any type - however, there will be a small number of trials bikes available to use on the day. Helmets must be worn, and any other safety equipment such as shin pads or gloves are encouraged. There is no minimum age, but each person must be able to ride a bike confidently. This is not a cycling proficiency! We like to think of it as a "proficiency plus".

The sessions last for 3-4 hours and can be done both inside and outside on most terrains. Fresh fruit and water is provided, as are helmets if necessary. Amongst other things, you will learn how to cleanly get up platforms of up to 1 foot in height, balance on the spot, turn around 180 degrees, bunny hopping and even advanced tricks like hopping on the back wheel. Already proficient at trials? We'll show you the more advanced trials moves and help you improve on your technique. The final part of the day is a competition, set up just like real competitive trials.

As well as training, you will have the opportunity to try out both 26" and 20" trials bikes, and will be eligible for a 10% discount voucher with our sponsors, tartybikes.co.uk, when purchasing a complete bike.

There will be a short, limited performance at the beginning of the day to show what can be done, but many people prefer a combined performance and training session for the best value for money. Check out our example packages to see how we might be incorporated into your day. Please get in touch if you want to know more. Some dates, especially during the summer, are very popular - so book well in advance!
